Lenten reflections

Our church has additional services on the Wednesdays of Lent to meditate on Christ’s passion. During the service, we always watch a portion of the film “The Gospel According to Matthew“. If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch it here. You can also buy the DVD from Amazon here. This week we watched Matthew 26:47-68, which covers the betrayal by Judas and Jesus before the Sanhedrin.

The thought came to me how Jesus could remain so calm when Judas kissed him and again when he was spit at and beaten.

Being True God, Jesus knew everything that would happen to him, but being a true man, how could he have such control over his tongue, emotions, etc.

I’m quite sure the Devil was in his mind, tempting him to explode with rage and call down legions of angels to protect him and take care of his enemies.

Jesus knew he had to accomplish his mission perfectly in order to complete the process that would result in our salvation. Jesus loves us so much and wants us to be with him in Heaven that he willingly followed through on everything that was necessary.

I just thought I’d share some thoughts that came to me while watching the segment.

I pray you may take some time and meditate on all that Our Lord and Savior went through so that we may have Eternal Life with him.

Blessings during this season of Lent.
