What an awesome news to the story.  There are still many good people in the world, even though the bad news tries to crowd it out.

BBC News – Google’s Vint Cerf warns of ‘digital Dark Age’.

A very good point.  Many of our pictures are just bits of data in our camera or computer.  Will our future generations have the technology to read and process the backups we have on CDs, DVDs, external hard drives?

Look at how technology has changed in just the last 30 years.  Who has a floppy disk drive any more?  You might have some disks lying around, but you can’t read them without the equipment.

CDs and DVDs can suffer from what is known as “bit rot” where over time the data becomes lost.

If there is a population here on earth a thousand years from now, will they know about our existence?  They’ll probably still see remnants of the Egyptian civilization since the Great Pyramid and Sphinx will probably still be here.

It’s very good to back up your data (pictures, documents, etc.) but also make sure  you can still read and access them.

MacUpdate – RapidWeaver 6 Bundle for $79.99

MacUpdate – RapidWeaver 6 Bundle for $79.99.

I don’t own this, I just came across this deal.

If you own a Mac and want to build your own website then this may be just the deal for you.  Sorry PC users, there isn’t a PC/Windows version of this product.

On the Realmac site, the program alone is $90 and this bundle includes some other theme packs and add-ons.  I don’t know if the full value is over $600 like the offer claims, but it does seem to be a good offer.

If you want to try out the program and see if it meets your needs, Realmac does offer a free trial and you can also sign up for free video tutorials which will be emailed to you every week.

But act fast since the offer is only good until February 17th, 2015.
